Classic Movie Tuesdays

I have always been a fan of classic movies usually anything over 50 years old is fair game.  For the past few months I have been obsessing over Miss. Ava Gardner.
Ava
"Most Beautiful Animal"
I just think she is gorgeous and I love watching her movies. If you're only going to watch one Ava Gardner movie I highly recommend this 1954 classic, The Barefoot Contessa .  The movie also stars Humphrey Bogart (what a voice). The story is about a woman named Maria Vargas (Ava Gardner) and her rise to fame. She finds prince charming, but realizes all too late that all is not what it seems. Beautiful costumes, wonderful scenery, just all around great.
I love movie posters, don't you?

A still from The Barefoot Contessa

Below is one of my favorite scenes from the movie. In real life she loved to dance and be around everyone famous or not. It didn't matter to her, she just loved being around people. Tell me what you all think of Classic Movie Tuesdays.

I was thinking about doing an installment of Movie Star Thursdays. Where I can reccomend books and movies about a particular actor or actress and some fun facts. Let me know what everyone thinks. Have a good week!

  3. I also love classic movies, especially Cary Grant and Lauren Bacall. What's better than Lauren and Bogey together?

But back to Ava, have you seen her in the musical Showboat? She would probably be considered a supporting role in that one, but what a performance!

  4. Mama LaCroix, Yes! Lauren and Bogie are the quintessental cool couple. I definately agree about Show Boat. She sang all of her songs which are on the original soundtrack, but in the movie they dubbed her singing voice. Thank you for commenting.
